I grew up in a home of athletes. My dad played football. My brothers played football and I played football most of my life. While in high school I knew that I wanted to play football in college. So, as I received recognition of being a good athlete in high school, I thought that I was certain to get me into the college of my choice, until I met with Mr. and Mrs. Eugene. Their program was not called Hope Empowerment at the time, but ultimately, they gave me hope. She taught me faith-based principles, life skills and the importance of planning. Mrs. Eugene would help me and other aspiring students to prepare for college. When I realized how valuable their help was, I invited my friend to join us. She enlightened me as to why it was wise to consider more than one school and to explore my options. This empowered me to step out on faith and apply to the University of Arkansas. I was accepted at the university and proudly wore football jersey number 45 as a Razorback. This was the best decision that I could have made. I wish more students would think of planning for their future much sooner than their senior year in high school and that many would take advantage of what this program offers.
