Mrs. Eugene at Hope Empowerment has a sixth sense to see things in students that they do not see in themselves. She saw success in me at a time I could not imagine it, when all of the odds were stacked against me. I was a good student and dreamed of going to medical school. My mother did not have the money to send me to college and did not know how to help me prepare for college. Mrs. Eugene provided guidance that even my school counselor had not given. She helped me find resources and she advocated for me. I received a six figure, full ride scholarship along with a monthly stipend, laptop and other amenities to a college that I would not have gotten into had it not been for Mrs. Eugene and her guidance. I maintained my scholarship and graduated in four years. Some family life events caused me to put my plans for medical school on hold, but I am working in a field that allows me to give back to the community, which is just as rewarding.
